So far (a week-plus), working like a champ. There was one leg of the couch that kitty had become enamored with in the last several months. He still used his own furniture, but also added the couch to his repertoire. Success: The tape is sticking firmly to the couch. Kitty is using his posts exclusively. I plan to keep the tape up there for a little while longer to see if it comes loose.
